Spanish Vacation: Los Timbales

Prior to attending a bullfight at Las Ventas, we stopped off at the nearby Los Timbales for a drink and a couple tapas. Timbales are traditional drums used in bullfights for various signals. This is a place visited by fans of bullfighting.

They have a dining room in the back and a long bar where you can stand and eat tapas. We stood at the bar, drinking a beer and some Tio Pepe sherry. For tapas, we ordered a plate of Iberico ham and Spanish cheese as well as Gambas al Ajillo, sizzling shrimp in a garlic sauce.

The ham and cheese were very good, as expected. I especially liked the Gambas. The garlic sauce was spicy and the shrimp were tender. It was a large sized dish, bigger than what I usually see for this item. Prices were very reasonable.

A very good Tapas bar and well worth a stop.
